“Yeah, but…” Disease

How many of us suffer from the “yeah, but…” disease? You know the one that goes something like, “I can do it, yeah but such and such a person won’t like it?” or “I can open my own business, yeah but the economy is bad?”

We often allow this “yeah, but…” disease to cripple us. We have great ideas and here comes “yeah, but…” to stop us from executing them!

Let’s get rid of this disease!

Let’s put it where it belongs, where “butt” belongs, behind us! (Pun intended).

Step up, step out and take a chance! Execute your great ideas and help with eradication of the “yeah, but…” disease!

You Can If You Think You Can!

This is a beautiful poem, remember thoughts become things, think positive!

You Can If You Think You Can!

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can.

Let go or be dragged

Just read an article called “Let go or be dragged”, and it made me think, “Why is it so hard to let go of something that is obviously hurting us or not working?”

We refuse to release what is known because we fear the unknown. What will life be like—and who will we be—if we’re not the employee in this job … the spouse in this marriage … the person with this health problem … the victim who can’t win, and so on?

There have been plenty of times in your life when you have stubbornly clung to outworn jobs, unfulfilling relationships and unproductive behaviors simply because they had become comfortable and familiar. First you try to convince yourself that the situation was really okay, or tolerable, or destined to improve, even when your deep-down self knew better.  Working up the courage to let go of a bad situation felt a lot like running up to the edge of a cliff repeatedly until you can finally muster the will to leap over the chasm to the other side.  In the process, you endured many false starts, much self-criticism, abundant advice from others and emotional exhaustion until you finally do what you really knew you needed to do all along.

It is not a pretty picture when we resist change and are dragged into it and it is not a pleasant feeling.

And so we come to the affirmation “Let go and let God.” It is indeed frightening to let go of a current situation when we do not know what’s coming next. And yet, that is the only way to grow. There is a higher truth waiting to be expressed through us—but it can only come into being if we set our egos aside and allow it to unfold.

We are destined for so much more than the limited expression of who we are today. If we let go of that which is holding us back, we discover the truth of our being: That we are a child of God with unlimited potential and vastly untapped power, wisdom and gifts. We have within us all the clarity, all the courage and all the integrity and magnetism we need to overcome any current limitations and create something exponentially better.

We are not only worthy of that divine expression—it is why we are here.

Let Your Light Shine!

Eric Butterworth’s “Discover the Power Within You” speaks about the following:

Saying “But I am only human” is the understatement of your life. You are not only human; you are also divine in potential. Fulfilling your goals and aspirations in life is dependent on the stirring up and releasing that divine potential. There is really nothing difficult in letting your inner light shine. All we need to do is correct the tendency to turn off our light when we face darkness. A light bulb is nothing more than that unless it is turned on. When on, when connection is made with electrical source, it becomes a radiant source of light and warmth.

So, no matter the difficulty around you, or the darkness before you, turn on your light.

No matter what happens, turn on your light and keep it on.

“Good” Opinions of Others

I read a section from Inspiration by Dr. Wayne Dyer that deals with being independent of the “good” opinion of others. I think it is important to share it goes like this:

Suffering the consequences of living according to someone’s wishes doesn’t make any sense; rather, we need to oppose the external opinions that try to force us to be what we’re not intended to be….Mmmmm, some food for thought, huh?

There are many well-meaning people in our lives who have ideas about what we should and shouldn’t be doing, especially relatives; they tend to be specialists in this area! If we allow them to guide us with advice that is not in keeping with our inner calling, we will suffer the anguish of an uninspired life.  When we allow the opinions and dictates of others to determine what we’re going to be, we lose sight of our objective here, which is to live an inspired life.

We need to determine for ourselves how much we’ve allowed others to decide issues such as what we do, where we live, with whom we live and even how we are treated. We need to understand that absolutely no one else truly knows and feels what we are here to accomplish, so we must give ourselves permission to hear our inner guidance and ignore the pressure from others.

Regardless of how absurd our inner calling might seem, remember it is authentically ours and it doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else.

So willingness to listen and act on our inspiration, independent of the opinion of others, is imperative.

Powerful Thinking

Did you know that when we are afraid of something happening, we actually attract it? This is because of the amount of emotion and persistent focus we invest in the fear is powerful. We need to remove the personal investment of fear from what you don’t want to happen and now use that powerful energy and direct it at what you really want to happen.

Do you think, that if we realized that our thoughts became the things and events of our life, if we began believing that we were truly unlimited; and started to grasp that divine intervention could be freely summoned by anyone to help make our dreams come true, that we would continue doing the same old things, living the same old life, and waiting for the same old miracles?

Or would we begin thinking things we have never thought before, saying things we have never said before, and doing things we have never done before?
This is the “test” all must pass. Not to prove anything to anyone but to ourselves.

No matter what you have been thinking or feeling, your power to create something new is NOW!

So let us all start focusing our energies in the positive direction. Let us create the life that we want!

Buddhist Prayer of Forgiveness

“If I have harmed anyone in any way
either knowingly or unknowingly
through my own confusions
I ask their forgiveness.

If anyone has harmed me in any way
either knowingly or unknowingly
through their own confusions
I forgive them.

And if there is a situation
I am not yet ready to forgive
I forgive myself for that.

For all the ways that I harm myself,
negate, doubt, belittle myself,
judge or be unkind to myself
through my own confusions
I forgive myself.”

And so it is.

Resistance

Bob Proctor in talking about resistance, quoted this and it was written by the late William Penn Patrick in approximately 1970.

“No person, ideal or institution becomes great until Great Resistance has been encountered. Greatness cannot be achieved until this concept is understood.

Unfortunately, the average person is ignorant of this rule to achievement. Mr. and Miss Average, in their ignorance, are fearful and reluctant to encounter even slight resistance. They don’t want to make waves or be criticized and they incorrectly feel that criticism will hold them back and prevent their happiness from being realized. In truth, the opposite is the case.

Take note: when we begin to change our jobs, we are first given resistance by our loved ones, for they fear change because change means facing the unknown! When we begin to make rapid achievement or commitment to rapid progress, we have road blocks thrown up by our friends and relations. They begin to resist by negative comments and actions which are devices to cause you to maintain the ‘status quo’.

Now, if you are to achieve great progress, you must prevail against those closest to you; this is difficult and requires courage because you desire to please and not hurt those you love. The truth is that great harm befalls your loved ones when you fail to be yourself and do your thing. This is so, because you lose your enthusiasm for life, your growth process stops and your self-esteem diminishes.

Those negatives are reversed when you stand your ground; and when you have prevailed, your loved ones gain a new and higher respect for you. History records countless events which prove the point. For an example, the greatest of all men overcame the most severe form of resistance and in so doing gave birth to Christianity. Had Jesus Christ run from His opposition, we would not know His name today, nor would we have available for our use those great and wonderful truths He brought forth for us so that humanity could find their individual greatness.

Furthermore, Christianity met “its” greatest resistance in Rome. Thousands of Christians were crucified in Rome. This resistance was met and in so doing, gave life to the force of Christianity, and Rome became the center of all Christianity – now, and for the past 1700 years, Rome has remained the very center of the Christian world.

Let these great lessons of the past stay in our mind as a beacon in our personal and corporate future. Let us understand and be grateful that our ideas have proven worthy of tremendous resistance. Today, all over the world, great forces have risen to resist our growth. These forces fear us for what we represent and they are attempting to destroy us and our dreams. Our understanding of this phenomenon and our strength of character and our commitment to our way of life is prevailing over these forces which have risen up. We are fortunate to have such great resistance. This resistance is evidence of our greatness and it provides us with the energy to prevail, to conquer and to dominate. These next few short years will record a brilliant history and establish a permanent place for our way of life – which is Freedom to be and to work out our dreams for a great world, for ourselves, for children and all humankind.

Understand our battle and be glorified that you are a part of the making of history. The work you do today in the defense of our way will provide new freedom and hope for millions yet to come. Stand tall in the face of our enemy…your resolution and commitment will seize his heart with fear and he will fade into oblivion. AND THAT IS THE LAW OF LIFE.”

Now go out and face the resistance and be triumphant!

Get it done now!

We have a tendency to put off things. I’ll start tomorrow, next week, first of the month or the very famous “New Year Resolution”. Why can’t we do it now? What are the excuses we are using not to start it now?  Do these sound familiar?

  • Not enough money
  • Children too young
  • I’m too old
  • Not enough time

I’m sure you can and have more to add to the list. It is time to take charge and get it done now!

What do you really want? Get the vision in your head and start towards your vision NOW!

The strength, courage, ability and goodness are within us but we have forgotten it. We just see the obstacles. But if we stop and focus on our vision, we will realize something greater about ourselves and about life. We would know there is a presence, a power, an intelligence and we would know our oneness with it.

AffirmationI am in tune with the Infinite and I can do what needs to be done. Through the power that dwells within me, I can succeed, I can overcome, I can be what I want to be.

Fear vs Faith

Fear is faith turned inside out. Fear is having faith in certain images created by the mind rather than having faith in the creative power of the mind itself.

Our fearsome mental images may have their origin in prior personal experiences, or they may be the result of cultural conditioning. These memories may be filled with strong emotions. If we do not discharge this emotional energy from the body, these images will continue to haunt the mind. As we put our faith in these images, we make our fear real and thus we give it power over us. (The word fear can be used as an acronym for false experiences appearing real.) A story from the East tells of an artist who painted a large picture of a tiger on the wall of his house. He was a very good artist and the pictured appeared so real that he became afraid to enter his own house! So we, too, may frighten ourselves with our own imaginings when we imbue them with reality.

Faith is the power to create our reality by our perceptions, our beliefs and our interpretations. Seeing is believing, and yet believing is seeing. According to our faith, our world reveals itself to us and becomes real.

Like I always say “You have to believe it to see it!”
